Prospect Park Boat House

BPL Presents humanities and art University Open Air

Inspired by ancient objects native to the Andes and Mesoamerica region, we will create whistling bottles out of plastic containers and talk about the origin of these ancient artifacts. Our learning will be hands-on; you will construct, interact, and create sound from your whistling bottle.

Rocío Guerrero Marín (b. 1991) is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Santiago, Chile. In her work, Marín addresses collective affectivity with invitations for sharing, listening and being in the present time. Through a hybrid of sculpture, installation, and performance, she is interested in exploring affective relations and commonalities between bodies and environments, while exploring ideas of language, experience, and materiality. Her work has been shown at museums and galleries, standing out: In the wake, 205 hudson gallery (2021), New York; Life of my life, Vitrinalab (2020), Miami; CCU Gallery (2019), Chile; Museum of Contemporary Art (2018), Chile; New media Bienal (2018), Chile; YAP-CONSTRUCTO / MOMA PS1 (2014), Chile. Rocío Guerrero is a 2019 fellow FONDART, and resident at Soma Summer 2021. She currently lives in New York.
