BPL Presents humanities and art social sciences University Open Air

**Please note: Due to the forecast of rain throughout the day, today’s (Thursday, September 9) University Open Air classes have been cancelled. We will notify registered patrons if we’re able to reschedule these classes for another day.

In this two-part course, we will examine some laudatory and critical devices used in some emblematic works to present the concept of beauty and ugliness. In the first hour, we will focus on centuries prior to the XXth. The second hour will begin in the XXth century and include other Arts. We’ll finish with a creative writing session.

Nadia Bongo holds a Ph.D. in French Language and Literature from Aix Marseille Université. She taught French Language, Literature, and Research for the French Academy for six years. She feels fortunate to have two passions: teaching and writing. She attended a Cave Canem workshop (2018) and is a Brooklyn Poets fellow (Spring 2021). She is working on a poetry collection. Her work has appeared in the NYPL zine and Newtown Literary.

*In cases of rain, classes will be canceled. Registered patrons will be notified by email on the morning of each course day and are also encouraged to check the UOA webpage and BPL Presents’ Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
