University Open Air: The Inventiveness of Popular French Songs

In this course we will examine a few poetic, surprising and funny French songs. Then, we will try to write songs in English that have the same inventiveness, or fantasy and rhythm as French songs.

Nadia Bongo holds a PhD in French Language and Literature from Aix Marseille Université. She taught French Language, Literature and Research in the French Academy for six years. After publishing literary articles, she decided to focus on her creative work and attended a Cave Canem Workshop. Her poetry is forthcoming in Newtown literary journal and she is a Brooklyn Poets Fellowship finalist (Fall 2020). Nadia is currently working on a poetry collection.
