Portrait & Street Photography Workshop [in English and Spanish]

This workshop, led by Esteban Abdala Torres Campo, focuses on the portrait, specifically the street portrait, which has a correlation with street photography.  We will explore the human necessity of self representation and also capturing fellow humans among us.  With a hint of philosophy included we will speak and practice about the possibility of portraying more than just humans, but also animals, things and spaces. With these ideas we will jump in the adventure of coming out of the library and shooting the surrounding areas and asking people in the streets for portraits of them.

This workshop narrates a brief resume of the history of the portrait and how in the modern times with the accessibility to all kinds of cameras the portrait keeps being a very important expression of human culture, or even also the gesture that remarks a conscience behind the eyes.

Bring any camera you have available to you, although coming with a camera is not required to participate.

This workshop welcomes teens as well as adults.

Wearing masks is encouraged at this workshop and will be provided.

Enseñado por Esteban Abdala Torres Campo.  Este taller de fotografía se enfoca en el retrato, y en específico con el retrato en la calle, que tiene una relación muy cercana con la fotografía callejera. Exploraremos la necesidad humana de la auto- representación y la reflexión con otros seres humanos. Con un poco de filosofía pensaremos la posibilidad de que es posible hacer retratos no solo de personas, sino de animales, cosas o inclusive lugares.  Con estas ideas en mente saldremos de la biblioteca y caminaremos preguntándole a la gente por retratos.  

Este taller hace un breve resumen de la historia del retrato y habla de cómo en la actualidad con la accesibilidad a toda clase de cámaras el retrato sigue siendo una expresión importante de la cultura humana, o también, un gesto que denota una conciencia detrás de la mirada.

Trae cualquier cámara que tengas disponible pero no es necesario tener cámara para participar en el taller.

Este taller es para jóvenes y adultos.

Usar una máscara es recomendado y será proveída.
