book club book discussion humanities and art poetry

Join Ashley's Poetry Circle/Book Club discussion of This Strange Garment by Nicole Callahan. We meet every quarter to discuss a volume of poetry.

In addition to our usual discussion, we are very fortunate this time to be joined by the author (on Zoom) for part of our conversation, giving us all a special opportunity to share insights and ask a few questions of our own.

POET BIO

Nicole Callihan writes poems, stories, and essays. Her work has appeared, or is forthcoming in, among others, American Poetry Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Tin House, Copper Nickel, Kenyon Review, and as a Poem-a-Day feature from the Academy of American Poets. In September 2020, Nicole was diagnosed with Stage II bilateral breast cancer and subsequently underwent a double mastectomy, four follow-up surgeries, and radiation therapy. Her latest book, This Strange Garment (Terrapin 2023), navigates that diagnosis and treatment.
