Meet the NYC Philosophy Club

The New York Philosophical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring meaning and human connection through the shared pursuit of wisdom. We treat philosophy not as an armchair exercise, but as a lived practice meant to be accessible to all. Through Philosophy Club and other public gatherings, NYPS regularly convenes hundreds of guests for serious conversation, communal inquiry, and reflective dialogue. With new chapters forming nationwide, NYPS is building a movement grounded in the belief that philosophy helps us flourish—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Gavin Caster is an organizer by trade and a philosopher at heart, with over a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising and community organizing. He helps with the New York Philosophy Clubs’ operations.

Sara Elle Jone, professionally known as Elle Jone, is a New York–based actress, filmmaker, and creator. She is known for Unfulfilled Desire (2025), a three-act one-woman play with two sold-out performances in New York City; JAMPROV NYC (2025), an immersive theater–music–dance–improv experience; and the ongoing documentary series Les Corujas (2023–), exploring philosophy, consciousness, and collective experience. She holds a BFA in Acting for Film and Television from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
