Want to expand your horizons? Visit the Red Hook Interim Library for this special, after-hours experience. Using the voice as an instrument for poetic activation, Queens-based artist and facilitator Haley Grey invites you to explore the possibilities of sound. By combining introspective and collective creative modes, participants will learn to listen and engage deeply both as individuals and as a group. The workshop will culminate with the composition of a communal song.
Haley Grey is a singer-songwriter whose work incorporates devotional practice and mythmaking through sound, text, and performance. With a unique blend of influences from Neo-soul, folk, and jazz, she describes her songwriting process as “catching a feeling” and shaping it to its essential form through improvisation and collaboration. A graduate of the prestigious Tribeca Jazz Institute, Haley studied under Lucy Yeghiazaryan, Vanisha Gould and Michael Kanaan. She is a member of the Resistance Revival Chorus. Notable performances include the International Havana Jazz Plaza Festival, Cuba, Ki Smith Gallery, New York Botanical Gardens, Chapel Bar, and Elizabeth Street Garden.
Generous support for programming and interim library services in Red Hook provided by Amazon.
