From Stalin to Putin and back.

Our guest Alexander Podrabinek is from Moscow. He is a legendary dissident, a fighter against punitive medicine, a writer, and a publicist.

Mr. Podrabinek will examine post-Soviet events that led to putinism and the Russian war on Ukraine. He will present his new historical and biographical book Third Life.

Other books by A. Podrabinek include Punitive Medicine, Out of the Yellow Hush, and Dissidents (all in Russian). A former inmate in Soviet prisons and prison camps, he was awarded the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom in Washington in 2015. Podrabinek is the author of articles and lectures on human rights, punitive psychiatry, and the process of political transformations in Russia. His books and articles have been published in many languages, and he has given interviews to numerous international media. He was one of the creators of the television program “Déjà Vu” on Radio Liberty (2014-2017) and is a regular columnist for Radio Liberty and other media.

Бывший узник советских тюрем и лагерей. В 2015 в Вашингтоне награжден американской "Медалью свободы имени Трумэна-Рейгана". Автор статей и лекций по вопросам прав человека, карательной психиатрии и процесса политических преобразований в России. Его книги, статьи и интервью опубликованы на многих языках. Автор телепрограммы "Дежавю" на "Свободе" (2014-2017). Постоянный колумнист "Свободы" и других свободных изданий. Живет в Москве.
