kids after school Justice Initiatives kids create Warehouse Exhibition

Take this journey together, as we collaborate through a story-quilting and collage-making workshop intertwining our dreams, challenges, and embarking on liberation world-building through creative Afrofuturism. Using various textures, materials, quotes and ideas about community, create a bridge of creative action toward individual and collective power.

“Without community, there is no liberation.” - Audre Lorde

Led by teaching artist, Wéma Ragophala in collaboration with Bridges: A Pan- African ARTS Movement.

Bridges: a Pan-Afrikan ARTS Movement is an arts catalyst organization founded by Wéma Ragophala, presenting opportunities for international arts exchange, community advocacy, and global partnerships. This Brooklyn-based organization has worked in collaboration with local artists and organizations in New York and South Africa.

Running from April 4 through June 28, 2026, The Warehouse is a collaboration between artist and writer Vic Liu, abolitionist organizer Mariame Kaba, and the Bedford branch of the Brooklyn Public Library. The project features more than two dozen new, full-scale paintings by Liu that cover the library's walls, transforming the public space into an immersive exploration of resistance, survival, and possibility.
