How to: Start a Tenant's Union

Justice Initiatives at BPL is partnering with community organizations and agencies to produce a series of Know Your Rights and How To workshops. This event in the series will focus on:

• COVID Eviction protections, rent relief, and recent changes to tenant’s rights;

• Guidelines on talking to your neighbors about your rights;

• Understanding your power as tenants and how to use it;

• Future struggles and organizing opportunities in the fight for housing justice in NYC.

Workshop Leaders:

Cea Weaver is the campaign coordinator of Housing Justice for All - a coalition of over 80 groups representing tenants and homeless New Yorkers across the State of New York. Cea has worked together with legislative leaders and community partners to pass transformative tenants' rights policy at the local and State level. She has a Masters in Urban Planning from NYU.
