Join us for an interactive online and in-person series focusing on Hip Hop elements (MCing, Breaking, DJing, Graffiti, and Knowledge of Self and Community) as forms of literacy with Dr. Kashema Hutchinson and guests. Participants will learn how these elements play a role in reading and understanding the world around them. We will also discuss the importance of learning through experience.
Ages 16 & Up. Limit to 15 participants (in-person). Online and In-person registration are required.
January 4th: Hip Hop Literacy 101
January 11th: Graffiti & Digital Literacy
January 18th: Sampling
January 25th: Mixtapes: More than Just a Playlist
February 1st: Critical Literacy
February 8th: Critical Race Theory x Hip Hop
February 15th: Battle of the Worldviews
February 22nd: Critical Karaoke
