Circles and stripes, dashes and dabs, soft colors and bright ones-they are Alma's colors!

Today we celebrate Black History Month with a puzzle inspired by the colorful, abstract art of African American artist, Alma Thomas.

As a child Alma Thomas loved to spend time outside, soaking up the colors around her. Despite the racial injustices Alma's family faced, her parents filled their home with creativity. Alma shared her passion for art by teaching children. When she was almost seventy years old she focused on her own artwork, insipred by nature and space travel. With the use of vibrant colors in her paintings, Alma shows beauty and joy surrounding us. Just open your heart and use your imagination.

Suggested materials:

  • markers, crayons
  • paint, corks, q-tips, pencils to make dots...
