Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning in partnership with SUNY Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) is now offering a virtual FREE 15 week intensive Medical Billing & E-Records class for the Spring 2023 cohort. BEOC is administered by New York City College of Technology!

Medical Billing and E-Records helps build careers in the medical and health insurance fields.

Participants in this class must:

*Be highly motivated

*Do extensive hands-on computer work independently

*Complete certification examinations

*Have access to technology (computer/laptop) and internet

Upon successful completion:

*Participants will be prepared to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Billing & Coding Specialist.

*Participants will be able to use medical billing software.

*Job placement assistance available.

Certifications to be obtained:

*Certified Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS)

*Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)

***Note: BPL Adult Learning will reimburse one certified exam (CBCS), if they meet attendance policy.

In-person Class Schedule: Monday through Friday 6pm-9pm and Saturday 10am-1pm

Spring Semester: Feb. 2023 - May 2023

Program Length: 15 weeks (18 hours each week)

Class Location: Pacific Library 

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

*Working towards your HSE equivalency diploma and must obtain your HSE by May 2023 in order to receive the Medical Billing or Assisting certification.

*Have an interest in healthcare profession

*18 years of age or older

*US citizen, permanent resident or refugee

*NYS resident for at least one (1) year

*Ability to meet placement test requirements (TABE) Minimum NRS 4+

*Low to moderate income 

*No college degrees and no more than 33 college credits earned - no exceptions

*Foreign degrees may be honored

*Must be fully vaccinated

Once you register for the information session, you will receive an email one day before the session with additional information and a list of required documents you would need for enrollment.

Space is limited; you must attend the information session to be considered.

**Priority is given to students who are working towards their HSE diploma or enrolled in IELCE ESOL classes at BPL Adult Learning.
