adults creative writing literacy poetry summer reading writing workshop

Poetry As A Voice is a six-week collection of interactive workshops and presentations that introduce participants to poetry as both an art form and a tool for self-expression, healing, and community dialogue. These programs are designed to engage community members of all ages through creative writing, spoken word, and reflective poetry practices. The workshops will encourage literacy, self-expression, emotional wellness, and cultural storytelling while positioning the library as a vibrant hub for arts, learning, and community connection.

Each session blends poetry readings (classic, contemporary, and culturally diverse), guided writing exercises, group discussion and sharing (optional and inclusive), and performance techniques for spoken word and public readings.

Adults, seniors, emerging writers, and community members seeking creative wellness outlets and interested in arts and self-expression are encouraged to attend.
