NOTE: This workshop is for ages 17+.
You are the protagonist of your next comic in this autobio comics primer. Led by cartoonist, Hazel Newlevant, explore the experiences that defined and changed you, design a cartoon version of yourself, and learn how to turn your treasured and embarrassing memories into a story to share with others.
Participants are encouraged to have paper and a pen/pencil ready.
Registration is required and a Zoom link to join the program will be emailed in advance. You will not need to log in to Zoom or have a Zoom account.
Hazel Newlevant is a Portland-raised, Queens-residing cartoonist. They like to create comics to synthesize their experiences, and about queer history. Their comics include the graphic novellas If This Be Sin and Sugar Town, and their recent graphic memoir No Ivy League. They have edited and published the anthologies Chainmail Bikini: The Anthology of Women Gamers and Comics For Choice.
