Music legend Questlove makes his directorial debut with his documentary, Summer of Soul (...Or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) (2021). This film compiles found and restored footage from the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival that features performances from Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, and The 5th Dimension, among others. This film commemorates a moment that serves as a cornerstone of Black history, culture, music, and fashion.
