CARE Period Convention (Teen Takeover)
Come join us from 6 - 8 pm at Brooklyn Heights Library for a joint Teen Takeover and CARE Cycle Alliance event to promote menstrual equity and education!
Teens from the ages of 13 - 18 are welcomed.
Main Event:
Author Rachel E. Gross in conversation with Ali Terese about her new book Vote for the G.O.A.T.
Workshops:
- Sexual and reproductive health Q+A with Molly Moreau from Comma.
- This will be an open Q&A session focused on menstruation, the menstrual cycle, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health. Molly will bring a set of frequently asked questions to spark discussion, but participants are encouraged to bring any and all questions of their own.
- As with all of Molly’s sessions, this will be a judgment-free space. Too often, young people don’t have the chance to learn about these topics in a medically accurate, sex-positive environment. Molly’s goal is to create a space where attendees feel comfortable, curious, and empowered to learn!
- Period Jeopardy led by Teen Intern.
Tabling:
- Department of Health
- The New York State AIDS Institute's Digital Health Initiative develops and disseminates Tested, an award winning comic book featuring diverse characters affected by a broad range of health conditions and social issues with a touch of heart and humor. "In life, we all get Tested."
Games:
- Tampon Throwing Contest.
- Guess the product!
- Photobooth.
Freebies and prizes:
- Welcome gift bag.
- Signed book copies from Author Ali Terese.
- Crocheted stuffed animals.
Pizza and juices will be provided.
