Books Unbanned Storytime: Diversity is Our Strength
As part of Brooklyn Public Library’s Books Unbanned initiative, we are celebrating every child’s freedom to read by sharing picture books that have been banned or challenged around the world. This storytime for ages 3-8 will showcase age-appropriate picture books that celebrate diverse cultural backgrounds and different types of families. We will talk about why these books might have been challenged, why our library allows families to decide for themselves what they want to read, and then make Freedom to Read buttons to wear home.
This program is made possible through the generous funding of City’s First Readers, a New York City Council initiative.
