Booked is a music and reading series at Brooklyn Public Library's Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center.

Booked invites local artists to show support for the library by sharing their favorite reads and songs in community.

Today we are excited to welcome Erica Liburd and her accompanist Kyle Walker! We can't wait to see you there! The event will be held outdoors in our rooftop garden, weather permitting. We recommend bringing hats/sunglasses/etc.

This event is free, registration encouraged

Erica Imani Liburd is a soprano and graduate of the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase with a Bachelor of Music in vocal (opera) performance. In her short career she has performed several professional operatic works, and has shared her brilliant command of classic opera as well as Negro Spirituals with many audiences. She is also the Collegiate Division winner of the Harlem Opera Theater's 2019 Vocal Competition. Currently, Erica is a special education teacher for the New York City Department of Education. Recently she graduated with a Masters of Science in Education.

Kyle P. Walker, a critically-acclaimed pianist with a passion for using music to address social issues, is on a mission to bridge traditional Western repertoire with the work of neglected composers from around the world. From his performances at SXSW Music Festival and NPR's 1A to recitals at Carnegie Hall and The Apollo Theater, Walker's heartfelt tone and dedication to activism have made him a standout in the classical
music world. As a member of the award-winning DARA + KYLE duo and The Harlem Chamber Players, as well as a founding member of The Dream Unfinished, Kyle uses his platform to bring attention to underrepresented composers and advocate for social justice. In addition to his touring and performing, Kyle is also a professor at NYU Steinhardt, where he shares his passion for music, activism, diversity, and inclusivity with the next generation of musicians.
