Join the creators of #Blkgrlswurld ZINE for a reading from their new Summer 2020 Issue.
#Blkgrlswurld is an indie press, based in NYC, who is dedicated to celebrating and documenting Black womxn and womxn of color in the underground music scene. Creative Director, C.A., speaks about their newest issue of #Blkgrlswurld, saying:
"This latest edition of #blkgrlswurld ZINE is very special to us. When 2020 began, I knew I wanted our summer issue to celebrate Black womxn we admire. I knew I wanted the finest quality print materials I could find to honor the self-portraits created by #BIPOC who participated in our Open-Call. What I did not expect during this pandemic was to feel such a sudden, desperate thirst to commune w/ my people--especially as we took to the streets to advocate for ourselves. "Are you alright? What are you seeing? Has the dissonance caused you to float away?" There is isolation such as the kind during COVID-19, and then there is the isolation of respecting a country that doesn't respect you in return. Art allows us to walk in another person's shoes for a bit, and I hope that's what you'll find in this season's edition".
The creators of #Blkgrlswurld have been featured in Vice, Hyperallergic, Lenny Letter, and more.
