Anime Art Contest

What is it?  

The Central Library Youth Wing is hosting an Anime Art Contest! This contest is open to teens to submit their art inspired by anime and manga. Submissions will be open starting December 1- January 5th and artwork will be on display in the Central Library Youth Wing from January 5th- February 5th  2026!  
 

What are the rules?  

  1. Entrants must be in 7th through 12th grade.  
  2. Entrants must live and/or go to school in Brooklyn.  
  3. One entry per entrant.  
  4. Artwork must be between 5"x7" and 11" x 17"    
  5. The submission must be created by the entrant only.  
  6. Entries must be delivered in person to the Youth Wing children’s reference desk at the Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn NY 11238.  
  7. All submissions must be hand-drawn, with no tracing.  
  8. No Mature Content or scenes.  
  9. All artwork must be inspired by anime and manga.
  10. By submitting their work, the entrant attests that they created this work themselves. The entrant gives permission for their work to be used on the BPL’s website and in any BPL production or publication (including online). The entrant understands that BPL will take care of the artwork but is not responsible for any loss or damage to the same, nor the return of the same.
 
Judging decisions are final and are at the discretion of BPL.  
 

Where can I submit my art?  

You can submit your art directly to the Central Library Youth Wing Reference Desk! The Youth Wing is on the first floor of the library. The Central Library is located at 10 Grand Army Plaza Brooklyn, NY 11238.
 

How will voting work?  

Voting will take place online and will start January 6th. You can vote once a day through the voting form from January 6th- January 31st 2026. Vote using this online voting form.
 

When will I be notified if I won?  

Winners will be notified by February 2nd 2026!  
 

Will I get my artwork back?  

Yes! When you submit your art, please give the librarian your name and contact information, and you will be contacted after the contest ends! We will do our best to preserve your artwork but understand that we cannot ensure that artwork will not be damaged or lost. (see Rule #10)  
 

Will there be prizes?  

Yes! Exciting prizes for winners to be revealed!  
All entrants will receive a certificate and a custom art contest bookmark!  
 

Is anything else happening related to the contest?

Yes! We are holding a special event Friday January 9th - register online so we can get an accurate food count!
