  • Biographical NoteParents of Joan, Max and Marjorie (nee Fellerman) Helbraun, lived in Brooklyn all their lives. Grandparents of Joan, Tillie and Jacob Fellerman, came from Yassi (Iași, Romania) in 1880s. Great grandparents of Joan, Joseph and Sabina Rabinowitz, settled in Bensonhurst where Joe had a millinery shop. Family of Max Fellerman was from shtetl near Lvov (Poland at that time) came early 1900. Father of Max was a grocer. Max was born in the Bronx and grew up and spent all in life in Brooklyn, went to Brooklyn College and Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Parents of Joan married during the war. Father served in Florida where Joan was born, August 19, 1944. Family settled in upstate New York.
