Summary(00:30) Family from Poland, England and Russia. Parents of Sandra lived in Harlem, moved to East New York when Sandra was 3. Her father was a tailor. The family kept kosher and went to a conservative shul (synagogue). Sandra remembers East New York as a mixed neighborhood, playing in the streets, attending PS 159, then PS 158 -- (15:55) The family moved to Franklin Square, Long Island. Sandra experienced culture shock. She remembers Brooklyn fondly -- (23:33) Sandra taught for thirty years in the Booklyn public schools, some where she had attended.
