Davenport, library trustee, on left, holding an inscribed trowel, Francis R. St. John, library director, on right, holding an open book, and an unidentified man in the center. Built in 1867, the building became a branch library in 1903 and served as the system's main library. It closed in 1962 when the Brooklyn Heights Branch opened.
