Ilana attended a Jewish day school in Montreal, than a Jewish high school. Studied at McGill University, then traveled throughout Europe for ten years working in theater. She got her masters degree in dance therapy, moved to Brooklyn in 1984 -- (05:45) She attended Tish/NYU to study Jewish folklore and ethnography -- (10:25) Recounts the process of researching and editing her book: Jews of Brooklyn.
