  • SummaryCaption: "When the veterans at the Manhattan Beach hospital sent out a plea for a television set so that they could watch baseball games and other events this summer, the plea did not fall on deaf ears. In no time at all, Kings County Commander James C. Varley of the American Legion, Col. Charles A. Fisher, and City Treasurer Spencer C. Young, who also is treasurer of the Legion's welfare fund, arrived with the set. It was accepted for the veterans by Leigh Roberts and Nurse Norma Shampain."
