This collection holds photographs and documents recording the history of the Brooklyn based Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter of the National Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American Men. The fraternity was founded in 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Among the membership are attorneys, civic leaders, clergy, educators, physicians, and veterans. Subjects include membership meetings, family events, charitable programs, award ceremonies and newsletters.
