Storytime Ambassador
Help us engage with bilingual families who attend Storytime sessions at the library
Responsibilities
- Provide general information about services and programs that the library offers
- Model reading aloud techniques and other early literature practices for parents of young children
- Support the Children's Librarian conducting Storytime and other programs
- Find creative ways to display and market books and materials for children
Required Skills
- Fluency in a language other than English (particularly Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Haitian Kreyol, Spanish, Polish, Russian and, Urdu)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English
- A strong commitment to literacy and a love of reading in the community
- A friendly approachable manner and an ability to get along with a diverse group of people
- Ability to make a minimum commitment of two to three hours per week for a period of at least six months

BPL will conduct an investigative background check on volunteers 18 and older
