MacMonnies's Union Navy Sculpture
Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn
This photograph shows sculptures of the Union Navy by Frederick MacMonnies on the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch, a Civil War memorial. Located at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, the arch was built between 1889-92 to commemorate Union forces that died in the Civil War. A corresponding sculpture representing the Army is located on the left side of the arch; both of these sculptures were added in 1901.
For a full view of the Memorial Arch, see Document 101.
