Teen Writing Contest &
Ned Vizzini Teen Writing Prize

Thanks for your interest in BPL's 7th annual writing contest!

Please take some time to read our guidelines before submitting your entry as there are some changes from previous years. Teens in all NYC boroughs are eligible to enter. Participants must be in grades 6 through 12, and may submit no more than one item in each category (prose & poetry). If more than one item is received per category only the first submission will be considered. Be sure to edit work carefully before final submission.

If selected as a winner or finalist:

  • You agree to have your work edited by judges for final compilation and publication on our website.
  • You will be asked to read a portion of your work in a celebratory reception to be held on June 7.

Entries accepted in two categories:

  • Poetry (up to 500 words)
  • Prose (up to 2,500 words)

Entries must be submitted by 11:59pm EST Saturday, April 30, 2017.
