The global pandemic has paved avenues for cybercriminals to target many people in diverse fields. According to CPO Magazine, half a million Zoom user accounts were compromised and sold on a dark web forum in April 2020. (CPO Magazine). In addition, Americans lost more than $97.39 million to COVID-19 and stimulus check scams. (Atlasvpn). What is the reasons for the recent rise? What strategies do attackers use? This class discusses the reasons for increased cybercrimes and ways to stay on top of the most recent cyber activities.

 

Eugene Opoku-Mensah is an Assistant Professor at Middlesex’s College Department of Computer Science. To his credit, he has taught diverse of students in Ghana Information Technology. He then continued in China, where he worked for 6 years before moving to the United States. Dr. Opoku-Mensah uses an interactive approach with practical illustrations that attracts students’ interest to grasp the concepts being taught. His interest is Data Science and Information Security.
