Restoration's VITA/TCE free tax prep and filing is being offered by appointment on the 3rd floor of Central Library on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm 

To make an appointment: 

  • Go to restorationplaza.org/what-we-do/financial-inclusion/tax-prep-assistance/ and click Schedule An Appointment 
  • Click Start to begin the appointment intake and respond to the prompts on the screen. 
  • Choose whether you want to Meet with a Tax Specialist (in-person tax process) or Drop Off My Paperwork (off site tax process)
  • Choose Brooklyn Public Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238 as where you want to meet.
  • Enter the requested information when prompted until the appointment intake is completed.
  • Click Search to find what times are available for you to meet. You can click Search Again if that time doesn't work for you, or click Pick a Time to look for appointment availability by week.
  • Select a Day and Select a Time
  • Click Confirm

Be sure to bring originals of ALL of the following documents:

  • Government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, etc.)
  • Social Security card(s) from the Social Security Administration, or ITIN letter(s) for yourself and all individuals on your return
  • All tax documents (W-2 forms, 1099-R Pension statements, 1099-G Unemployment documents, SSA-1099 Social Security benefits. 1099-INT Interest Statement, 1099-DIV Dividend Statements, 1099-B Stock statements, and 1099-C Cancellation of Debt, etc.)
  • Documentation of higher education expenses, including tuition paid, loans received, student loan interest payments and student fees
  • Child-care expenses, including provider information and tax ID number
  • IRS IP PIN This is something you might have received in the mail, please bring it with you.
  • Bank account number and routing (ABA) number for direct deposit.
