University Open Air: Community Development and Participatory Design

**Please note: Due to the weather forecast and the possibility of early afternoon thunderstorms, we have moved today’s classes to Central Library. This course will take place in the Information Commons, Meeting Room #3, located on the first floor of Central Library. Please enter using the main entrance at Grand Army Plaza and head straight toward the back of the large atrium. The Info Commons is located in the middle of the main lobby and the meeting rooms are numbered from left to right.  Room #3 is located to the left of the reference desk.

The United Nations defines community development as "a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems." In this course, citizens and professionals will collaborate to discuss, discover and improve various aspects of their localities, with an aim to build robust and more resilient local communities.

Nazia Roushan is a young urbanist passionate about participatory and social urbanism with 2+ years of hands-on experience in project management, community outreach and involvement, social media management, and content development for social sharing. Experience as the co-founder of a start-up community architecture venture.

In collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance, Brooklyn Public Library presents University Open Air, a free, three-week series of classes beginning Tuesday, June 11th in Prospect Park’s former Rose Garden.
