Documentary, dir. by Ema Ryan Yamazaki
US, 2017, 82 mins

Since the publication of the first book in 1941, Curious George has touched the hearts and minds of children throughout the world. The documentary explores the lives of its creators – Hans and Margret Rey – and the extraordinary adventures which inspired them to create Curious George. Following a narrow escape from the Nazis on makeshift bicycles, with the first manuscript of the monkey as one of their few possessions, the couple settled in New York and, over three decades, created one of the most beloved and recognizable characters in children’s literature.
