In the late 1960s, Isabel Allende was a young journalist who scandalized conservative Chilean society with her daring feminist reports in Paula Magazine. However, the uprising in Chile curtailed her rising career and forced her into exile, distancing her from her husband and two children. “The Cost of Liberty” is the first episode from the HBO mini-series Isabel: The Intimate Story of Isabel Allende, which explores the career and life of the most widely read Spanish-speaking writer on the planet.
