Laurence Lowe: The Power of the Peer Movement to Transform our Response To The Mental Health Crisis
Room: Languages & Literature, 1st Floor
A growing body of evidence—as well as Laurence's personal experience—shows that a model incorporating peer support specialists into mental health services creates a more holistic and effective approach to recovery. So why have so few people heard of it?
Laurence Lowe used to be an editor at a now shuttered print magazine called Details, helped found the online art magazine Triple Canopy, taught at several colleges in the U.S. and France, and has written for more than a dozen publications including The New Republic and GQ. He currently works in various capacities at the intersection of mental health, media, and community building while living in Brooklyn with his wife, Rose, and their dog, Chef.
