This month's poet is Barbara Branca.
Barbara Branca is a writer and performer who straddles the arts and sciences by creating musical and poetic works based on the lifelong passions for the environment, music, and family history.
Over the last decade, her love of writing has expanded to include poetry, often focusing on environmental themes, her immigrant family heritage, and romantic relationships. Her performances intersperse spoken poetry with sung jazz standards, creating the unique style of reading that she's brought to the New York and Long Island poetry scene.
Her chapbook of poetry, Flash Flood, published by Nino's Wine Press, is "an irresistible, rollicking trip... iconic remembrances, playfully retold in a signature musical style. unforgettable once heard," writes George Wallace, Writer in residence at the Walt Whitman Birthplace.
Following Barbara's reading will be the open mic.
