First impressions starts with you! Are you interested in earning a nationally recognized hospitality front desk representative certification? Join our session to learn how you can learn the necessary skills to manage, solve problems, and handle safety concerns all while finishing your HSE diploma.

Hotel Front Desk Representative Certification & Complete your HSE diploma dual program

Guestroom Attendant (Housekeeping) Certification

The certification is supported by the START (Skills, Tasks, and Results Training) for Front Desk Representatives. The program presents general hospitality knowledge and soft skills needed in the hospitality industry, along with concise instructions for training new or prospective employees on how to perform 16 key tasks correctly. These include:

  • Identifying equipment and systems used by front desk staff
  • Understanding  the importance of key control
  • Identifying the steps and tasks involved in pre-arrival, check-in, and departure
  • Demonstrating effective sales and upselling techniques used by the front desk. 
  • Reinforce GED skills to earn your HSE diploma
  • Job readiness 

Successful candidates who complete the program and pass the certification exam with a score of 70% or higher and pass the GED exam with a minimum score of 145 or higher will receive a certified Front Desk Representative certificate and your HSE diploma through the New York State Education Department. 

Class Format: Hybrid

Cost: Free, but must meet attendance requirements and pass all exams

Class Cycles: Winter: Jan. - April

Evening Class Schedule: Tues/Wed/Thurs 5PM-8PM  at Central Library 

Day Class Schedule: Mon/Wed/Fri 10AM-1PM at Eastern Parkway Library 

Enrollment Requirements:

-Must be working towards your HSE diploma and complete it before the end of the cycle. If you already have a HSE diploma, you must have qualifying scores on the TABE assessment.

-TABE assessment (pre and post) NRS levels 3+

-Experience working in the hospitality industry

-Resume and proof of NYS residency (photo ID)
