Gabrielle R. Gatto: Death Literacy, Presented by a Death Doula
What’s the mortaliTEA? This talk will be focused on making the end of life to-do list less daunting. We’ll be going over the BIG questions to ask yourself and your loved ones, common procedures and practices in NY for end of life rituals, and where to get started. The goal is to take a taboo we often leave in the dark, and meet death with empower, compassion, prepardeness, and ultimately—fostering a more death-literate society where conversations about end-of-life matters are normalized and supported. Gossiping with the grim reaper will be a priority. Bring an open mind to be open to new perspectives and practical death matters and any thoughts you may have such as, “What kind of funeral DO I want?” “What should I have prepared for the funeral director, my partner, etc.?” “These questions and topics may be heavy to hold, but we will guide ourselves to their answers with humor and openness.
