Sheepshead Bay Library and the Alzheimer's Association invite you to attend the virtual program "Effective Communication Strategies."

A representative from the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter will discuss communication strategies to help caregivers, families and friends.

Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect.

Topics addressed are:

  • Understand the communication changes that take place throughout the course of the disease.
  • Decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia and respond in helpful ways.
  • Identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

Please register to participate in this one hour Zoom virtual program. A Zoom link will be emailed to participants one hour before the program.

For more program and event information, visit the Sheepshead Bay Library Facebook page and the Friends of Sheepshead Bay Library Facebook page.
