Join us for a special virtual session of DIY for Teens on the Brooklyn Public Library Family Facebook page at 4:30 PM. In this series (Thursdays at 4:30pm) we’ll be making art together at home with materials you can find at hand, no special supplies needed. Learn about artists, techniques for making at home, and take some time to create something together each week.

Before we get started, gather together some materials:
- A larger surface to collage onto. For example: a journal, piece of cardboard, or a plain white piece of paper.
- Adhesive like glue, tape, or anything you can use to make things stick.
- Materials that you can use to make your art. Use whatever materials you find interesting, including:

  • Scraps of decorative or wrapping paper.
  • Magazines: Images, Text, or other materials from print.
  • Photos.
  • Newspapers.
  • Recycled materials in your house like food packaging, brown paper bags, plastic bags.
  • Ad mailings.
  • Fabric scraps.
  • 3-dimensional objects you find interesting
  • Ink, paint, or markers
