New York City-based songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Dan Rauchwerk is best described as a “musical Wikipedia.” A founding member of the internationally touring folk band The Lords of Liechtenstein, Dan has recently embarked on a solo career. “We Are More Than What We Leave Behind” is his debut album.
The record’s subject matter was inspired by Dan’s life-long passion for books, and he seeks to educate as he entertains. Mixing historical references into love songs and weaving eras into each other, Dan introduces characters who never met in order to see what happens when they interact. This curiosity winds its way through the music, and the listener gets the feeling that they are reading stories in the old library on the New England shore where the album cover photo was shot.
Author Michael Croland will open up the performance with a reading from his new book.
