Dive into the evolution of “Brooklyn’s Backyard” with a day at Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Public Library on this year’s June Chancellor’s Day! Take a walking tour of Prospect Park with the local history experts at Turnstile Tours while they highlight milestones of the park’s history; from the designs of Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, to the more recent history of activists organizing to rejuvenate the park as it fell into disrepair. Underscore Prospect Park’s history in the Brooklyn Collection with an intimate look at historic atlases, newspapers, photographs, and other primary sources you can use to make the history of the park alive for students.

Brooklyn Connections workshops are intended for educators and school administrators. Priority will be given to K-12 classroom teachers. All others will be accommodated pending availability. Brooklyn Connections is an approved NYSED Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) sponsor. This special accreditation enables educators to utilize Brooklyn Connections professional learning workshops toward fulfilling their mandated 100 hours of approved CTLE credits.
