Central Library Friday Film Club: Amadeus (Lives of Famous Composers - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart))

Fri, Jan 18 2019
10:00 am – 12:45 pm
Central Library, Balcony Conference Room

Music arouses constant emotions in us; it accompanies us in every situation of life. The creators of music, composers, are people equipped not only with talent but also with exceptional sensitivity. Their lives are usually turbulent, full of affection and despair, and that is reflected in their work more than once. In January we will show four films about the lives of composers from different historical eras.

Amadeus

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce) is a remarkably talented young Viennese composer who unwittingly finds a fierce rival in the disciplined and determined Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham). Resenting Mozart for both his hedonistic lifestyle and his undeniable talent, the highly religious Salieri is gradually consumed by his jealousy and becomes obsessed with Mozart's downfall, leading to a devious scheme that has dire consequences for both men.

The "Lives of Famous Composers" film series screens each Friday in January.  Immortal Beloved will be shown on Friday, January 25.
