Your Friday Film Club for the month of December features an assortment of holiday-related films with an emphasis on "Family Tension". First up, The Man Who Came To Dinner.
This delightful adaptation of the George S. Kaufman/Moss Hart three-act comedy is directed by William Keighley and stars Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Monty Woolley, Billie Burke, Jimmy Durante, Richard Travis, Grant Mitchell, Mary Wickes, Elizabeth Fraser and Reginald Gardiner. Woolley reprises his role in the stage production as an acerbic radio commentator from New York who gets injured in a fall and forced to stay with a Midwestern family for the winter. He proceeds to drive them crazy while assorted wacky friends pass through.
The "Family Tension" film series will screen each Friday in December. Next up will be A Christmas Tale (un Conte de Noel, 2008), followed by All That Heaven Allows (1955) and Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970).
