He is the host of the “Rabbit Hole” podcast, and a regular guest on “The Daily,” as well as other TV and radio shows. He writes and speaks regularly on many topics, including automation and A.I., social media, disinformation and cybersecurity, and digital wellness. Before joining The Times, he was a writer at New York magazine, and a host and executive producer of "Real Future," a documentary TV series about technology and innovation. He lives in the Bay Area.
Ethan Zuckerman is associate professor of public policy, information and communication at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and director of the Institute for Digital Public Infrastructure. His research focuses on the use of media as a tool for social change, alternative business and governance models for the internet, and quantitative studies of digital media. He is the author of Mistrust: How Losing Trust in Institutions Provides Tools to Transform Them and Rewire: Digital Cosmopolitans in the Age of Connection. With Rebecca MacKinnon, Zuckerman co-founded the international blogging community, Global Voices, which showcases news and opinions from citizen media in more than 150 nations and 30 languages, publishing editions in 20 languages.
