Join DeKalb Library for Reading the Rhythm—a BPL Incubator program which combines dance and literature for local teens. Reading the Rhythm was developed in partnership with the DeKalb branch of the Brooklyn Public Library and the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center. In Reading the Rhythm, teens age 13 to 18 will have an opportunity to learn modern dance from instructors from the Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center and collectively read and discuss the young adult novel Panic by Sharon Draper. Register now to join in on this unique dance experience!
Registration is limited and mandatory to attend the program. Attendance of the program’s first class is mandatory. The first class takes place on March 31st, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the DeKalb Library. Registered participants who do not attend the first class will be dismissed from the program and replaced with a participant from the Registration Waiting List. Participants may miss up to two classes throughout the entirety of the course. If more than two classes are missed, the participant will be dismissed from the program.
This program is made possible through funding provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
