Local Ditmas Parker author Melodie Winawer will discuss her new book, The Scribe of Siena, a transporting novel where the present collides with medieval Italy and a twenty-first century woman discovers love -- and a plot to destroy Siena. She will be joined by Nancy Bilyeau, author of a trilogy of thrillers set in the 16th century: The Crown, The Chalice and The Tapestry. 

Melodie Winawer is a physician-scientist and Associate Professor of Neurology at Columbia University. She has published over fifty nonfiction articles and book chapters, and The Scribe of Siena is her first novel. Nancy Bilyeau, is the deputy editor of The Crime Report, of the CUNY Center for Media, Crime and Justice.  Her trilogy have been published in seven foreign countries and The Crown was an Oprah pick.
