We've all heard of Rosa Parks, but how many of us really know the story, and not the myth of the woman whose actions galvanized the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Professor Jeanne Theoharis of Brooklyn College was awarded the 2014 NAACP Image Award for her biography, The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks". In it she examines Park's commitment to activism which began long before the boycott, and her lifelong demand for justice, in the North as well as the South. Theoharis will also talk about her recently published book on the Civil Rights Movement, "A More Beautiful and Terrible History"
There will be a wine and cheese reception beginning at 6:30. The talk will begin promptly at 7:00.
