Art in the Garden: Nannies' Fairy Tales and Music
Over the past four years, Brooklyn Public Library offered writing workshops with over 70 nannies and other childcare providers in a series of Nannies' Fairy Tale Writing Workshops, a model inspired by Mark Nowak's Workers Writers School. Workshops by professional writers, Fadwa Abbas, Raquel Ortiz, Claudia Prado, Marianela Fernandez, and Andrey Tarnarutskiy, were given in English, Spanish, and Russian. On April 18, May 1, and May 8, you can meet two of these writers/nannies who will read their fairy tales, accompanied by a solo musician.
Performance times will be 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM.
At today's program, Janessa W. Waiters and Jennifer Fisher, two graduates of BPL’s nannies Fairytale Writing Workshops, will read their fairy tales. They will be joined by dulcimer player Linda Russell.
